  • A person struck by a vessel, propeller, propulsion unit, or steering machinery
  • Carbon monoxide exposure
  • Electrocution due to stray current related to a vessel
  • Casualties while swimming, usually by drowning, from a vessel because the unanchored/moored/docked vessel drifts away from the swimmer such that he/she is not able to return to it.
  • Casualties while swimming, usually by drowning, from a vessel in an attempt to retrieve a lost item, another person, or another vessel.

Legal Rights of the Injured

The law in most states provides individuals with legal claims and the right to compensation for injuries they suffer as a result of a defective product or the negligence of another. The injured person may file a lawsuit seeking compensation for his or her pain and suffering, medical expenses, lost past and future wages and punitive damages.
