| Baby rattles, squeeze
toys, pacifiers and teethers can pose choking hazards.
In recent years, there have been multiple recalls
of products due to the risk of of separation of
nipples from pacifier bases and the breaking of
rattles which can release smaller components. |
- The Elegant Kids 2000 Inc. Pacifiers
In March 2005, the Elegant Kids 2000
Inc., of Los Angeles, California recalled
about 34,500 Soother Baby Pacifiers. The
pacifiers failed federal safety tests when
the nipples separated from the base, posing
a choking hazard to infants and small children.

- Todo Dollar Wholesale Pacifiers
In February 2005, Todo Dollar Wholesale, of Los Angeles, California
recalled about 102,000 Flashing Pacifiers with Whistle Necklace and
Flashing Pacifier Shock Baby Necklaces. The nipple reportedly could
detach from the pacifier, posing a choking hazard to young children.
- Tiffany and Company Farm Teether Rattles
New England Sterling of Attleboro,
Massachusetts, for Tiffany and Company
of New York, New York, recalled about 3,700
Farm Teether Rattles in February 2005.
A metal bar on the rattle reportedly could
break off during use, releasing small round
beads and small farm animal figures that
roll off the crossbar when the soldered
joints break.
- International Playthings, Inc. Rattles
International Playthings Inc., of Parsippany,
New Jersey recalled about 1,600 Earlyears
Spirolly Rattles in October 2004. The spiral
section of the rattle could reportedly
come apart, releasing small balls inside
and posing a choking hazard to young children.

- Prestige Toy Duckie Ring Rattle/Teethers
In May 2002, Prestige Toy Corp., of New
York, New York recalled about 4,600 Duckie
Ring rattle/teethers. The rattle could reportedly
break, causing small beads to fall out, presenting
a choking hazard to young children.
- Magic Cabin Wooden Teething Rings
Magic Cabin of Madison, Virginia recalled
107 Wooden Teething Rings, item numbers 828135
and 828136, in January 2003. The teething rings
were natural wood and shaped as a snail, bird
or fish. Magic Cabin sold the teething rings
through its catalog and web site from September
to November 2002.
