Dangerous and Defective
Rototillers |

| Rototillers with design
defects or insufficient safety warnings and instructions
can cause extremely serious injuries. In May 1984,
after an administrative complaint by the Consumer
Product Safety Commission, Sears, Roebuck & Co.
and Roper Corporation began notifying consumers
of potential hazards associated with certain rototillers
sold by them from 1963-1980. |
| The rototillers had
an alleged design flaw that could cause the
machines to become locked in reverse and mutilate
the legs of the user. It was reported that
the companies had received over 20 reports
of injuries, including severe lacerations and
amputations to users legs after the tiller
backed over them. |
