Weed & Brush Trimmer Defects and Safety Issues

The Consumer Product Safety Commission has issued warnings regarding brushcutters, which have rigid cutting blades that are capable of cutting through a hand, arm or leg and have accounted for a number of injuries.
In May 2003, Conceptual Marketing & Development Inc. recalled approximately 1.1 million metal blades for their model 4650 weed cutting attachment, as the blades could reportedly break off and hit consumers causing severe impact and laceration injuries.
In May 2000, Weed Wizard Acquisition Corp. recalled about 2.7 million Weed Wizard trimmer heads with medal chains and about 857,000 replacement chain sets. The end link of the metal chain reportedly could rapidly and unexpectedly detach during use, posing a serious threat of injury or death to consumers.
