| Vacuum cleaners can pose
a serious injury threat when spinning motors or
exhaust blower wheels are exposed. |
| In December 2003,
Emerson Tool Company voluntarily recalled Wet/Dry
Vacuums due to the risk of injury posed by
the exhaust blower ports. The recall was reportedly
made because the parts were large enough for
a small child to reach inside and touch the
spinning blower wheel and could lead to serious
lacerations or amputations. |
| In June 1987, Whirlpool
Corporation recalled numerous Sears Kenmore
canister vacuum cleaners due to the risk posed
by the vacuums’ motors. The motor of the
recalled vacuums reportedly had an opening
which exposed moving parts when the canister
was open. The moving parts could cause severe
lacerations or amputations to fingers placed
in the opening. |
